It's Monday. The sales report needs rebuilding. Again.
How did we do last month against target?
- MondayThe scrambleFour spreadsheets and a SharePoint list, copied and pasted.
- TuesdayThe mismatchTwo figures don't agree. Which one is right?
- ThursdayThe answerFinally. Three days of someone's time.
- FridayOut of dateNew orders are in. Back to square one.
If you build the reports
- The hand-built reportHours every month copying and checking, by someone with a real job to do.
- Numbers that disagreeSales says one figure, finance another. The meeting becomes a debate.
- It all stops when you're awayNobody else knows how the spreadsheets fit together, so holidays mean no report.
If you run the business
- Waiting for reportsA simple question takes days to answer, and decisions wait with it.
- Expensive people, wrong jobSkilled, well-paid staff building reports instead of doing the job you hired them for.
- Out of date on arrivalBy the time the report lands, the numbers have already moved on.
Now imagine next Monday.
Your MD gets the answer themselves, in seconds. Nobody drops what they're doing.
Already up to date. Refreshed overnight, with full history.
How did we do last month against target?
£3.84m, which is £240k (6.7%) above target. Office furniture drove most of it. Want a breakdown by customer?
Answered in seconds. Nobody else involved.
What's Fabric Express?
We take the data from one system you already use, like Excel, SharePoint, Xero or Dynamics, and make it trusted in Microsoft Fabric. On top, you get a Power BI report, an AI agent you can chat with, or both. Fixed price, live in 5 days once you're set up.
Start with the spreadsheet that hurts most.
From fragile spreadsheets to trusted answers.
Many businesses run their numbers on spreadsheets that one person understands, rebuilt by hand every month and supported by nobody. Fabric Express replaces that with a standard, supported data layer, then puts a report or an AI agent on top.
Running the business on Excel and SharePoint?
Turn the files you already use into trusted reporting and AI.
Job sheets in Excel, a SharePoint list of customers, and a monthly report someone builds by hand.
Jobs, revenue and overdue work by month and customer, refreshed every night with full history.
"Which jobs are overdue this week, and for which customers?" Answered in seconds.
| The problem | What Fabric Express gives you |
|---|---|
| Key person dependency. Reports rely on one person who knows how the spreadsheets fit together. | A standard, documented data layer that does not depend on one person. |
| Cottage-industry processing. Data is copied, pasted and reworked by hand every month. | Loaded automatically every night, with checks, logging and full history. |
| Not standard. Each team works the numbers out its own way, so the figures disagree. | One trusted source, on the same tested engine as our enterprise platform. |
| Unsupported. Home-grown workbooks and scripts that nobody supports. | Built and supported by MPowerUp, with optional monthly support. |
| Unsure where to start with AI. Keen to try it, but not sure what it involves or costs. | One clear use case at a fixed price: a report, an AI agent, or both. |
| Hard to justify a budget. No proof yet that it will work. | From £5,000. Prove the value first, then grow. |
Microsoft's data platform. It sits underneath Power BI, the reports your team sees, and does the work that makes the numbers reliable.

Which customers have spent less this quarter than last?
Two of your top five customers are down on last quarter: Crescent Retail and one smaller account. Want me to break it down by product?
Yes, by product please.

- Which jobs are overdue this week?
- Who are our top ten customers this year?
- How does this month compare with last year?
- Which products are selling less than last quarter?
Good to know
- Answers come back as short summaries and tables, up to 25 rows and 25 columns.
- Questions and instructions are in English.
- Your tenant settings must allow cross-geo processing and storage for AI, and the agent and your data must be in the same region.
- Fabric data agents need F2 capacity or larger.
Two ways to connect your agent
Same model as your report
The agent queries a Power BI semantic model, using its measures, relationships and business names, so your report and agent share the same definitions. Row-level and column-level security still apply. Best when you take both routes.
Straight from your trusted tables
The agent writes SQL against the SQL endpoint of your lakehouse or warehouse, reading only the tables we select. We teach it your terms with instructions and example questions. Best for the AI route on its own.
Either way, it uses each person's own permissions and never changes your data. Example questions aren't yet supported on semantic models, so those agents are tuned through instructions.
Want both?
A report and an agent on the same trusted data, so the numbers always match.

Microsoft's Fabric Link keeps your selected tables in sync, and we handle legal entities, system codes and record links. Synced tables use your Dataverse storage, billed by Microsoft.

Faster, fixed, built to grow.
There are four common ways to start with reporting and AI on Microsoft Fabric: build it internally, hire a contractor, start a project with a partner, or use Fabric Express. Each can work. The difference is how quickly you see a result, what it costs, and who keeps it running.
| Question | Fabric Express | Build internally | A contractor | A typical partner project |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starting point | A pre-built engine, configured to your source | Built from scratch by your team | Built from scratch | Usually designed and built from scratch |
| Skills you need | None in-house. We build and support it | Fabric data engineering, modelling and AI | Enough to manage the contractor | Enough to manage the project |
| Time to first result | Live in 5 days | Depends on skills and other priorities | Weeks, depending on availability | Often weeks to months |
| Cost | Fixed, from £5,000 | Staff time, training and possibly hiring | Day rate, open-ended | Estimated, with change requests |
| Safeguards | History, checks, logging and alerts from night one | Depends on in-house skills | Depends on the individual | Depends on the design |
| Upgrade path | Redeploy into the Fabric Accelerator. Nothing rebuilt | Often a rebuild as needs grow | Often a rebuild | Often a new project |
| Continuity | The MPowerUp team, with monthly support | Relies on the people who built it | Relies on one person | Varies by partner |
Comparison reflects typical approaches. Every team, contractor and partner is different.

Why we recommend support
| Situation | With support | Without support |
|---|---|---|
| A nightly load fails | We pick it up within your support time | The fix is quoted and billed separately |
| A bug after month one | Fixed as part of your support | Billed at £125 an hour |
| Microsoft Fabric changes | Quarterly updates keep you current | You stay on the version you went live with |
One month of bug fixes is included after go-live. Unused support time expires at the end of each month. The capacity bolt-on covers the Fabric capacity cost only. Other Fabric spend is charged to you: see Microsoft Fabric pricing.

More about the Fabric AcceleratorFabric Express, answered.
What do I get for £5,000?
One source system connected to Microsoft Fabric, a trusted data layer built on the Fabric Accelerator engine, a monitoring report, a nightly refresh, and your choice of a Power BI report or a Fabric data agent.
How long does it take?
5 working days, counted from the day your prerequisites are in place. We send you a short checklist and check everything before day one.
Do I need Microsoft Fabric already?
You need a Fabric workspace and capacity, F2 or larger. If you don't have capacity, add our one-year F2 reservation as a bolt-on for £1,500.
Can I start with Excel or SharePoint?
Yes. Excel and SharePoint Lists are two of the 11+ ready-made connectors, and a popular place to start.
What if my system isn't on the connector list?
We can build a custom connector. It sits outside the fixed price, and we price it after a short discovery session.
What is a Fabric data agent?
An AI agent inside Microsoft Fabric that answers questions about your data in plain English. It reads your data and never changes it.
Can I have both a report and an agent?
Yes. Add the second route for £2,500, so both run on the same trusted data and always agree.
Is support required?
No, but we recommend it. Support is £500 a month for half a day of help, bug fixes and quarterly product updates. One month of bug fixes is included after go-live either way.
Where does my data live?
In your own Microsoft tenant, under your security and permissions.
What happens when I want more?
Move up to the Fabric Accelerator. It's a redeploy on the same engine, so nothing is rebuilt and your history carries over. Upgrade within 12 months and your £5,000 counts towards it.
Can refreshes run more often than nightly?
Yes, depending on your data volumes and Fabric capacity.
